Dr. Beghetto is an internationally recognized expert on creative thought and action in educational settings. He explains why all students need to be creative thinkers and asks if creativity is a generic skill, and how – or if – we should assess it in schools. Dr Beghetto’s research explores:
- the role uncertainty and creative risk-taking plays in creative expression, creative teaching & learning, and creative identity development
- how making principled changes to existing teaching, learning, and leadership practices can result in more creative, productive and sustainable educational contributions
- how to support teachers and young people in making positive and lasting contributions to learning and lives of others; and
- the development of more dynamic methods for studying creative expression in and beyond educational contexts.
Dr. Beghetto earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Indiana University (with an emphasis in Learning, Cognition and Instruction). It was so great to finally speak with him. I hope that you enjoy this fascinating conversation.
