Leon Furze: How becoming a parent has changed him and navigating the practical and ethical implications of Generative Artificial Intelligence.

It is my pleasure today to share a conversation with the brilliant Leon Furze. Leon is an international consultant, author, and speaker with over fifteen years of experience in secondary and tertiary education and leadership. Leon is studying for his PhD in the implications of Generative Artificial Intelligence on writing instruction and education.

In this conversation talked bout how becoming a parent has changed him, and the impact of generative artificial intelligence on schools and we unpacked some of the ethical complexities of technology use.

Chris Higgins: The MacKillop Institute and fostering social inclusion and cohesion in Australian schools.

Today I have the great pleasure of sharing a recent conversation I had with Chris Higgins, who is the National Programs Director, Development and Innovation at The MacKillop Institute. 

He is a teacher and a PhD candidate in Education, where her researches the role of digital technologies and global competencies in fostering social inclusion and cohesion in Australian schools.

Chris has received multiple awards and recognitions for my curriculum innovation and leadership, such as Most Influential Educator, Australian Education Awards Curriculum Innovation Award Finalist and the Asialink Fellowship.

Don Wettrick: CEO of the STARTedUP Foundation and why education should be about solving interesting problems and developing the leadership capacity to get it done.

Today it is my absolute pleasure to introduce you to Don Wettrick. Before we start, I wanted to apologise to Don for the delay in getting this episode out into the world; we recorded it some time ago. He is an author, TEDx speaker, an educator and a podcaster.

Don is the founder and CEO of the STARTedUP Foundation, a nonprofit focused on encouraging students to view the world through the lens of entrepreneurship. He is well-versed in innovation, entrepreneurship, and the importance of arming students with the skills and the network to succeed. 

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 27 years, Alicia, and their three children.

Melanie Macmillan and Danielle Porter: The Public Education Foundation, lessons from Harvard and the power of public education.

I have another very special episode for you today. 

Melanie Macmillan and Danielle Porter are both public school principals who were worthy recipients of a scholarship from The Public Education Foundation. The Public Education Foundation’s Harvard Club of Australia Education Scholarship enables three principals of Australian government primary or secondary schools to undertake a short professional program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

The Public Education Foundation is an incredible not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing life-changing scholarships to leaders in public education and enhancing the value and reputation of public schools.

Today, I have the pleasure of sharing the second part of a conversation with the amazing Stephanie McConnell, the founding  Principal of Lindfield Learning Village. She is the founder of Lindfield Learning Village. In this second part of our conversation, we deeply explored curriculum mapping, professional learning and leadership development. 

We talked about why we should always assume best intent, why we must reimagine leadership and how to create a village with low floors, wide walls and high ceilings.

Matt Pitman: Middle Leadership, creating a culture of continuous improvement and building connected school communities

This next conversation is with Matt Pitman. Matt is a Middle School Manager and a doctoral student researching connections across school communities. This was a fascinating conversation in which we talked about leadership, knowing when to quit and how to build meaningful, authentic school communities.
