Alice Vigors is an inspiring educator who has a passion for sharing her knowledge and skills with other educators around the globe. Her enthusiasm for education and improving the educational outcomes of all students are sought after and admired by her peers.
In this interview, we talk about her new book “The Thinking Classroom.” In the book, she argues that developing the critical and creative thinking skills of students in our classrooms is a necessary culture that all teachers should foster. Not only does it underpin the syllabus outcomes and content indicators, but the ability to think critically and creatively, and to articulate that thinking to others, is a hugely valuable skill in today’s world.

Welcome back! In Australia, we are about to begin another year in the classroom.
Don’t the holidays fly? It seems like only a minute ago that we were talking about ‘finishing the year well’ and ‘tying up loose ends in 2022.’ I hope that you have all had a refreshing holiday and that you are ready for a brilliant Term 1. As much as I enjoy the holidays, I start to get really excited to go back and teach.
Before we launch into the year ahead, I thought that I would share a recent conversation that I had with the brilliant Amy Green - and no, we are not related. Amy is a former teacher and school leader who is the founder of The Wellness Strategy. She works with individuals and workplaces, to help them understand what well-being is, develop well-being literacy, and to co-design and create well-being strategies and interventions that work.
This is a really important conversation to have at the beginning of the year so that we all can have a more meaningful conversation about well-being.
Her recent book Teacher Wellbeing was a great read and I am so grateful that I got to work with her. All of Amy’s details are available below in the show notes.
I hope that you enjoy this conversation that I had with Amy Green.
